Co-operation agreement with the National Library of Saudi Arabia

On January 19-20, 2026, a delegation of the National Library visited the King Fahid National Library in Rijad. The key point of the visit was a ceremonial signing of a co-operation agreement by directors of both institutions: doctor Yazeed Mohammed Alhumaidan and Doctor Tomasz Makowski – witnessed by the Polish Republic Ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Mr Robert Rostek.

The visit started with a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Polish National Library and the King Fahid National Library. The agreement covers, among others, exchange of professional experiences, joint research projects, activities fostering digitalisation of cultural heritage and expert co-operation.

Meetings with the management and staff of the royal library took place, too. The National Library of Saudi Arabia plans to modernise its offer and services as well as to expand the scope of its activities.

The visit took place on the invitation of King Fahid’s National Library – a delegation of which visited the Polish National Library in December of 2024.
