Cracow: 28th International Book Fair

On October 23–26, EXPO Kraków (Cracow) will host the 28th International Book Fair under the honorary patronage of the National Library.

The motto of this year’s edition of the fair is a quote from Wladyslaw Reymont Ziemia Obiecana (the promised land): „I am not a machine; I am a human being”. In the era of digital transformation and the growing role of AI, Artificial Intelligence, these words acquire a unique meaning. The theme, the motto encourages to ponder on subjectivity, identity, and sensitivity – values which we easily loose in the world of acceleration and automation.

At the time when screens dominate our everyday life, the fair reminds us of the need of authentic discussions, presence and face-to-face contact. It creates an opportunity to “go beyond screen”, stop, immerse in literature which often suggest answers to questions that have haunted us for a long time.
