The most-modern librarian system: The Library of the Wroclaw University

The Wroclaw University Library (BUWr) has implemented the most-modern Alma system and has started co-cataloguing with the National Library. A broad-scale co-operation within the nationwide librarian network, possible thanks to the implementation of uniform cataloguing rules benefits both the libraries’ staff, able to manage collections more effectively, and readers – who have gained a broader, quicker and more transparent access to information.

BUWr is currently the largest scientific library of Lower Silesia, encompassing cross-science publications with particular emphasis on human and social sciences, primary and encyclopaedia publications.
The uniqueness and high subject-matter value, the BUWr collections have significantly enriched the combined collections of the National Library with precious – often unique – pieces of scientific, cultural and historical character.
Together, the combined collections are co-created by 153 libraries which in the years 2022–2025 have introduced the integrated system of collections’ management. The combined assets now stand at 70M units.
