Palace of the Commonwealth during the Polish Presidency of the European Union
During 2025 Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Palace of the Commonwealth served as its official cultural venue. Nearly 3,000 distinguished guests from across the European Union visited it during this time – ministers, secretaries of state, secretaries general and heads of offices and central institutions. Thirty-two gatherings were held in the Palace's baroque interiors, including official dinners, work lunches, administrative meetings, and bilateral talks.
During six months of the Polish presidency, the Palace of the Commonwealth hosted 32 delegations of ministers, department heads, and other senior officials from the ministries of social policy, climate, health, education, finance, tourism, transport, funds and regional policy, development policy, European affairs, telecommunications, and research and innovation. Among the distinguished guests were secretaries of state of the European Union, secretaries general of foreign ministries, directors and presidents of key European institutions and organizations, including central banks, medical products registration offices, Aqua Publica Europea, the European Archives Group, and Europol.
A regular part of the meetings was a tour of the Palace and the exhibition of the National Library's treasures. National Library staff presented the most valuable and beautiful items of Polish and world literary heritage, including Chopin's manuscripts, the first edition of Copernicus’s On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres, medieval sermons and annals. Ptolemy's collection of Renaissance maps, and many others.
