A quarter of a million publications borrowed via Academica
Users of the digital interlibrary loan service Academica read a total of 248,931 publications in 2021. These included both copyright publications accessed via terminals at partner institutions and non-copyright items available to all Internet users on the academica.edu.pl website.
The digital interlibrary loan service at academica.edu.pl is home to over 3.5 million publications that have been scanned in from the collection of the National Library of Poland. Items are available free of charge in some 3,700 libraries across Poland. Academica has now almost completely replaced traditional interlibrary loans from the National Library.
In 2021 some 2,444 institutions were connected to Academica, including public libraries in almost all municipalities in Poland. Numerous school, university and professional libraries, research institutes, museums and archives are also connected to the service.
